Progressive Disclosure

“Progressive Disclosure is an interaction design technique for sequencing information and actions across multiple steps or screens to reduce complexity and avoid overwhelm. Through progressive disclosure of information, the basic functions are presented first and then the more advanced functions.

The presentation of information and thus the sequencing of interactions takes place from the “abstract” to the “specific”. It allows the user to “ramp up” from simple to more complex interactions. Rarely used options, information and functions are made accessible in a second step/on a second screen.
