Armed Forces’ Vocational Training Service
The Armed Forces’ Vocational Training Service (Berufsförderungsdienst der Bundeswehr, BFD) supports soldiers during their service as well as with their professional reintegration after leaving the military.
The counselling encompasses questions relating to education and integration into the civilian labour market, participation in educational measures, the promotion of vocational training and support for integration into the civilian labour market (Section 3(2) SVG). The services are primarily intended for temporary soldiers.
The German Armed Forces is one of the largest employers in Germany, with over 250,000 soldiers and civilian employees. The majority of the approximately 181,000 soldiers opt for temporary employment and are supported in their transition to a civilian career after completing their service. The Armed Forces’ Vocational Training Service (BFD) supports this transition with a comprehensive range of support and services based on the Soldiers' Provision Act (Soldatenversorgungsgesetz, SVG).

Continuing education or retraining courses are eligible for up to 100% funding through the Bundeswehr's vocational promotion service.
